This month we had great fun creating props for this year’s Wordpool Great Big Family Day in Stanley Park, Blackpool. We created props and an Aunt Sally board for The BFG, Bear Hunt and Very Hungry Caterpillar, with help from the toddlers at Fleetwood Trinity Methodist Church.
What a fabulous day at Wordpool, Blackpool’s annual Arts and Libraries Festival of Words, Stanley Park, Saturday 4th July, with the Grundy Art Gallery. We exhibited work by approx 400 children from workshops at 10 schools based on author Dan Worsley’s wonderful “Myth of the Poolie” who was also there in person, to tell the tale. Made sea creatures with families in the sun and drove home with giant Poolie on our roof rack. Huge thanks to all who took part, visited and helped.
We took part in the wonderful Wordpool festival at Stanley Park, Blackpool again this year….which proved even more popular than last year! The sun was beaming, eager families turned out and experienced a variety of Giant inspired performances and activities. We made the giant iron men inspired by Ted Hugh’s The Iron Man using articulated cardboard templates and up-cycled materials. The children made an amazing assortment of imaginative models, some of which we managed to capture!
Wordpool is a free festival provided by Blackpool Council and The Grand Theatre Blackpool.
We had a truly splendiferous day in out Tiny Borrower World as part of the Wordpool Festival in Stanley Park. Our Art for Health group displayed their work amongst the trees and on the ground, the sun shone and we made fairies, tiny boats and houses with the many visitors. Great fun! Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped to create a magical installation in the park and to Norma and her daughter for taking charge of the fairy making!
