Gosh the week kicked off with us being interviewed by BBC Lancashire by Dominic Busby and Rosie Dummer to promote the weekend’s Festival of Making in Blackburn. We had a lovely weekend 6th and 7th May at the maker’s market in St George’s Hall surrounded by 35 lovely makers of wonderful things. We do love makers!
All set up for the Art and Craft Fair at The lovely Victoria Baths, Manchester 11 – 4pm.
We had a superb time on our stall at Treacle Market this Sunday as always, but this Sunday was particularly special as it was also the 4th day of the Barnaby Festival, so lots of events, performers, and exhibitions to see. The sun came out, the rain stayed away and Chestergate was festooned in the most wonderful gigantic bunting.
The street performers were great, including a contortionist and a crazy man with a suitcase (speaker) who was herding chickens into shops, ducking from overhead helicopters and running from gunfire amongst other things. We saw Teresa Wilson’s wonderful “The Ecchoing Green” sculpture installation in the beautiful King Edward Chapel, which was dark and filled with trees and the sound of crows cawing. Very eerie but equally beautiful, the girls loved it!
Bonker*s Clutterbucks had a wonderful day at the Castlefield’s Diamond Jubilee Artisan Market on Sunday. Folk turned out in force despite terrible British weather to support the carnival and artisan market and to stock up on the fabulous produce and handmade goods. The arches were festooned in red, white and blue bunting and afternoon tea was served on vintage crockery with entertainment provided by the fabulous Cotton Club dancers. Deck chairs seemed to be the order of the day and us girls even made it to “Castle Sands” ( a canal side beach) for a spot of sand castle building.
Bonker*s balloon collages take off for Bocholt Kunstcarree, Germany, in celebration of 60 years being twinned with Rossendale. We are delighted to be invited to submit artwork alongside other valley artists. The Art Market opens in Bocholt on 6th May 2012. Wunderbar!
Many thanks to the wonderful Andrew Holland for taking all the Valley’s work to Bocholt (6 portfolios) and for the great panoramic photo of the stall. Andrew is one in a million!
Bonkers Clutterbucks are delighted to be taking part in a German Art Market – Kunstcarrée on 6th May 2012 to celebrate sixty years of Rossendale and Bocholt being twin towns. Eventually it is hoped that artists from Bocholt, Germany will exhibit in Rossendale and work with artists here on joint projects. It’s great to see so many valley artists on their website and to be involved.
